Taxonomy Editor is part of the DiscoveryOne suite. It allows you to create taxonomies or edit existing ones, and prepare them for document categorization.
When choosing what text-features to use for categorization, the category name and any alternative labels that you have are a good place to start. However, don’t expect these to do all the work. Labels are often so general that they match text in documents belonging to multiple categories. This is why the Taxonomy Editor allows you to enhance your categories using rules. Rule-enhancement gives a much greater ability to define the text-features used in categorization.
However, if you do not have the taxonomy expertise or if you need categorization immediately, then Taxonomy Trainer is the right option. It uses machine learning to analyze the sample documents and identify the most common patterns among your documents. Once the patterns are identified and analyzed, then DiscoveryOne can use this knowledge to start immediate categorization.
