As we prepare for the Holiday and Year End festive break, it is a good time to reflect on the Old and start preparing for the New.
2011 has been the most significant year in Pingar’s four year history.
In March, we launched the Pingar API at the 2011 Australia SharePoint Conference. In the following month, we launched the Chinese language version of the API at the 2011 International ICT Expo in Hong Kong. Over the next 9 months, we will be rolling out Japanese, German, French, Spanish & Arabic language versions.
Offices were established in Hong Kong, Bangalore & Silicon Valley. These joined the existing Pingar presence in both New Zealand & the United Kingdom. The Pingar team also grew in number; from 12 to 30 and we are still growing.
International partnerships were signed and resellers recruited. We made great strides in terms of engagement with the global SharePoint community and began to generate real traction in the scanning sector.
So looking ahead, what does 2012 offer?
Big Data became a hyped business trend in 2011. We believe it will become a major focus for enterprise in 2012. It covers a host of sub-sets, but we believe that Pingar is firmly establishing itself as a thought leader and innovator in the text & content analysis sub-set space.
During 2012, we will be bringing to market new algorithms and components that will further address key Big Data pain points. We are particularly excited about the research we are currently conducting with a team led by Professor Ian Witten at the University of Waikato around taxonomy generation. We see significant symmetries between this research and our existing automatic metadata assignment tools.
One of the biggest frustrations for any company with an emerging technology is the number of Confidentiality Agreements we are bound by. There is so much we would like to say, but cannot. We are however hosting or attending a number of events in the next few months where we will be demonstrating our current publicly available API component set.
On 10th February, we will be hosting our first major event in India - a Pingar Presentation in Bangalore. This will give Pingar India Technologies Pvt Limited an opportunity to present our API component technologies to a number of major IT outsourcing firms. Given both New Zealand & India’s joint penchant for cricket, do not be surprised if cricket plays a significant role in the presentation. The MC for the Presentation will be the legendary cricketer, Sir Richard Hadlee.
From 26th – 29th February, we are sponsoring SPTechCon in San Francisco. This will give members of the wider SharePoint community an opportunity to connect with Owen Allen, who recently joined Pingar Inc as VP Solutions. Owen will be speaking at the event. Whilst the Pingar Inc team are exhibiting at SPTechCon, Dr Alyona Medelyan & Dr Anna Divoli from Pingar Research will be presenting to Strata 2012 up the road at the Santa Clara Convention Center. This is a significant and well-respected Big Data Forum where Pingar will also be exhibiting.
In March, we return to Australasia as sponsors of both the 2012 Australia SharePoint Conference in Melbourne and the 2012 New Zealand Conference in Auckland.
In April, we spread our wings once again. We are sponsoring the Share event in Atlanta, Georgia and the International SharePoint Conference in London, UK.
What all this activity represents is a significant ramp up of Pingar’s global marketing visibility. As we build our Go-to-Market channels, we will be providing increasing levels of support to all our Partners.
Pingar is ending 2011 with a great deal of confidence for 2012. Good times.
We wish all our shareholders, staff, partners and friends a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Peter Wren-Hilton, Pingar CEO
